World War II left the world-especially Europe-in utter shambles, and many wanted to peg the price tag on the Germans and make them pay out the ear, and, basically, make Germany suffer. Although many wanted this form of "justice," served against Germany, this was not the case (excluding Russia). Give a few ways economic stability and reconstruction were approached following World War II and give one implication this had.
Okay, Mark's post makes me have another question: Will you only give questions to the class that poses them? Like, will Monday students get Monday-asked questions and likewise with Thursday?
Difficulty Scale: Easy––Medium––Difficult––Hard––Very Hard––Unfair: Based on topic and minimum word count.
Answer Length in Words: 260-850+: Based on the minimum words I could use to answer the question to its fullest.
Question 1: After the end of WWII Germany was in ruins. Name the four victors as well a step by step recall of the events leading up to the final plan that was devised to rebuild the nations. Also, give your personal thoughts as to the effect this economic strategy had on outside relations with Germany.
Difficulty: Hard
Answer Length in Words: Roughly 260-280
Question 2: After WWII the United States and the Soviet Union, emerging as the world super powers, began to loose their allied connections until conflicts formed which eventually escalated to the Cold War. Walk through the early steps that were taken against the Soviet Union and give your opinion as to their effectiveness. Also, discuss if any of the actions taken can be seen in more recent times.
Difficulty: Very Hard
Answer Length in Words: Roughly 330-350
Question 3: Discuss the result of the French Indochina War and the events that caused the outcome. Had the United States stepped in, how would have this effected the outcome?
Question 4: British colonialism faced its last stand in 1951 after what event occurred because London refused to modify a firm’s concession. Please identify and walkthrough the operation that was conducted to rectify the problem, highlighting the major sections, that played out between the United States and Britain against Iran. How did this operation effect events that have occurred in recent times, particularly with the development of terrorism.
@Jessica Megchelsen: Because with Mr. Parker you never know. I would prefer a question that I write and deem, "Unfair," rather than one he writes and deems, "Unfair." I know the questions he is going to write will be extremely difficult, so if I can write some that are to that level he will pick some of mine hopefully. That way he still gets the satisfaction of a difficult question and a select few of you will get the luxury of being able to prepare.
Rather than writing a mass of easy question, I am writing a few difficult questions so it is easier to study for. The questions I have posed force you to cover everything in the course pack as well as online from the week that it was asked from. Even if none of my questions are chosen, if you prepared to answer one of mine, it will help immensely on the test because these questions require so much preparation in themselves, it pretty much guarantees something in the answer will help you on the test.
A question for Mr. Parker concerning the multiple-choice portion of the test. I'm studying things in bold, but I was wondering how much of that needs to be studied. For example, on the second page of Week 16, there is a Timeline where certain dates (20 November 1953, January 1954) are bolded. Do things like that need to be studied? Or do those just serve as headers?
Give your thoughts on American involvement in foreign countries, particularly through coups. Were they beneficial or harmful for the future of the country and why?
Viva Suggestion: List three things that France did wrong in the First Indochina War, and explain why they harmed their cause and if the U.S. repeated them.
Question: During the 1950s, the republican party had a distinct Cold War policy. What was the Eisenhower Administration's approach to Cold War policy and how does it compare with later, democratic presidents' policies?
Difficulty: perfectly fair (our teacher has authority, and this is what he expects us to do)
In regards to modern terrorism, list three Cold War events that later aided Osama bin Laden in terror attacks such as the World Trade Center bombings on 9/11.
Trace the story of terrorism in three different incidences after Operation AJAX in Iran. Explain how each of these incidences coincide with the struggle against communism.

Are you saying we get to suggest our own questions? Does that mean you will choose your favorites or that we get to vote?
I choose.
So is everyone supposed to suggest a question for the viva?
You are free to post a question of your own creation(or not!). Good questions will likely be included on the final.

The questions may be used on either day.
"what's your name and what was your favourite thing you studied this year and why"
Just kidding.
Anything to do with the olympics incident, that was my favourite.
More to come when I complete them.

I think all of those should be ranked "unfair".

I agree with Christy!! all of these questions are extremely unfair especially considering I have trouble remembering my name sometimes...
So, why exactly are you posting questions that you’re self-describing as “unfair”?

Since we just have to read "A Civilization of Clashes" and study for the test, I'm assuming we don't have to do any extended blog posts?
I personally like Frannie's question..
How about this one.. You ask for the student to define the different terminologies of Espionage... this is VERY FAIR
@Benjamin OK that makes sense
List Luttwak's 3 conditions that render a country ripe for a Coup. Then pick a Coup we've studied and explain which of the conditions apply.
@Christy
Haha, that made me chuckle. They're definitely difficult questions.
Give your thoughts on American involvement in foreign countries, particularly through coups. Were they beneficial or harmful for the future of the country and why?
@Nathan, those are in bold as headings, don't worry about them
@Ryan, no blog posts of any sort this week

I did not think that Ben's were that bad but Max and Ian had me stumped.
Scratch that I have no idea how to answer Ben's fourth question.
@Rob, Ian's is not bad at all. Check out the "When is a Coup d'Etat Possible?" packet. The answers are easy.
As far as Max's, I have somewhat of an answer for that.
Trace the story of terrorism in three different incidences after Operation AJAX in Iran. Explain how each of these incidences coincide with the struggle against communism.
heh heh heh...Do you think Israel is still God's chosen people? Why is it or is it not God's chosen nation today?
